The Clement Panhard was a veteran car ahead of its time. Over five hundred of the cars were built from 1898 to 1903. The concept behind the Clement Panhard was of a small, inexpensive, and reliable auto - sounds familiar? Something that Henry Ford went on to perfect 10 years after the first Clement Panhard was produced.
Our Clement Panhard is a 1900 4 1/2 hp 1 cylinder phaeton - it has been in our family for the last 35 years and we have quite a detailed history of its life. Including the script from a June 1942 BBC radio broadcast when the first owner talks of the cars first journey in 1900.
My hope is to collect as much information about the Clement Panhard as possible and to share that information. I would also like to trace as many Clement Panhard's as possible - I know of 17 cars worldwide that survive in as far off places as Brasil, South Africa, Estonia etc. Before creating this web site we only knew of four others worldwide.
